Summary Plan Description

The Laundry and Dry Cleaning Workers Local 52 Health and Welfare Trust Fund (the Plan) is a multi-employer welfare plan formed with participating employers who have signed a collective bargaining agreement with the participating affiliate of WORKERS UNITED (Union). The Plan was established on and is subject to the provisions of the provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), as amended.

The Plan provides hospital and medical benefits to active participants. In addition, the Plan provides prescription drug benefits, vision care, dental and, group life insurance benefits. Participants are eligible for benefits based on their contributing employer’s collective bargaining agreement. These benefits are provided by the Fund, or through agreements with other insurance providers. The benefits provided by the Plan and the eligibility requirements are described in the Summary Plan Description (SPD) for active participants. The SPD is provided on this web site.

The Plan’s Board of Trustees are the Plan Sponsor and as such have the right under the Plan to modify the benefits provided to the participants and the contribution rates paid by the participating employers. The Plan may be amended under the provisions of the Trust Agreement subject to conditions set forth in ERISA.
